For the past few years I have been one of around 200 jurors from around the world who critique the folios selected for review at Critical Mass, one of the largest and most prestigious online portfolio review programs run by the Photolucida organisation in Portland, Oregon, USA. Artists submit 10 image portfolios for review. The entries are pre-screened by a group of around 30 jurors who select the best 200 folios for the Critical Mass review. Each of these folios is then viewed, commented upon and scored by the 200 jurors. This process presents an excellent opportunity for a photographer to put their work in front of an international audience of top museum curators, gallerists, publishers, editors, and media producers from around the world.
This year I have been invited to be part of the pre-screening panel which is charged with the task of selecting the 200 folios that will go forward to be reviewed by the full complement of more than 200 jurors. I expect it will be a formidable task, but one that I look forward to with gusto. To find out more about Critical Mass, go to http://www.photolucida.org/critical-mass/entry-details/
